Integration · Google Search Console
Link your Search Console property to the Site Audit of the same domain. Google grants read access only, and you always see what state the connection is in.
- 1permission, read-only
- 0write permissions on your property
- 4states the source status shows you
01 · You start in your workspace with the domain of your Site Audit.
Setup
Connected in four steps.
The connection is always tied to a Site Audit domain. That way Crawl Foundry knows which property belongs to which website, and you never have to match them by hand.
Pick the domain in your workspace
You start in your workspace at the domain your Site Audit checks.
Allow read access at Google
Google asks for access in its own dialog. Only read access to Search Console is requested.
Choose the matching property
Crawl Foundry lists the properties in your Google account and checks whether the one you pick matches your domain.
Keep an eye on the status
The connection always shows whether it is configured, fresh, stale or unavailable.
You need
- a verified Search Console property
- a Google account with access to it
- a Site Audit domain in your workspace
Crawl Foundry writes nothing to your property and submits nothing on your behalf. Whether search performance appears in the interface depends on whether that flow is enabled for your workspace.
Source status
You always see the state of the connection.
Crawl Foundry stores the selected property, the granted permission, the connection time and the last check of the source. Together they give one of four states.
- Configured
A property is selected and read access is granted.
- Fresh
The latest source check is recent.
- Stale
The latest source check is too old to rely on.
- Unavailable
The source cannot be reached right now, for example without valid access.
Today and later
What the connection does today.
We only describe what you can also see in your workspace. That is why this page is just as clear about what is not yet available as a finished feature.
Available today
- Read-only Google sign-in with webmasters.readonly
- A check that the selected property matches your Site Audit domain
- A stored connection with a visible source status
Not yet a finished feature
- Clicks and impressions per query next to every crawl finding
- URL Inspection results inside the Site Audit
Questions about the Search Console connection
Which permission does Crawl Foundry request from Google?
Only webmasters.readonly, Google's read permission for Search Console. With it, Crawl Foundry cannot change settings, submit sitemaps, request indexing or manage users.
Do I need a domain property, or is a URL prefix enough?
Both work as long as the property matches your Site Audit domain. A domain property covers every subdomain plus http and https. A URL-prefix property covers exactly the host and protocol it was created with.
What happens if I revoke access at Google?
The connection then shows the status "Unavailable" because there is no valid access any more. Your Site Audit keeps running regardless.
Will I see clicks and impressions next to my crawl findings?
Not yet as a finished feature. Today the connection ties a checked property to your Site Audit domain and shows its state. We will only promise clicks, impressions and URL Inspection results once they are visible in your workspace.
What do I need to connect?
A verified Search Console property, a Google account with access to it and a Crawl Foundry workspace with a Site Audit domain. Whether search performance appears in the interface depends on whether that flow is enabled for your workspace.
Connect Search Console to your first Site Audit.
Start free, add your domain, choose the property. No credit card and no write access.
